Our six operations are strategically located within close proximity of one another, with strong infrastructure in place — organised into the Tswelopele and Katlego mining complexes.
Tswelopele Operations
Tswelopele comprises OVL Colliery, which has two crushing and screening plants, and Forzando North Mine. The complex has a ROM capacity of 1.4 million tonnes per annum and services the export, local and Eskom markets.
Overlooked Colliery Underground Mine
Overlooked Colliery is situated near Bethal, with stockpile capacity in Emalahleni.
Established mine, it transitioned to an underground operation in 2019.
Forzando North Underground Mine
Forzando North Mine is located 15 km, north of Bethal and 55 km southeast of Emalahleni.
First coal production began in 1995 from S4L operations, yielding a 5700 k/Cal product.
Katlego Coal
Katlego Coal comprises five mining operations — DCME, DCMW, FZS, RVH Underground and Opencast — supported by three coal washing plants at Katlego and two Rapid Load Terminals.
The combined ROM capacity for Katlego operations is approximately 8.3 million tonnes per annum. Katlego services two distinct markets: the export market and the local market, with Eskom being the primary market.
Dorstfontein West Underground Mine
Dorstfontein Coal Mine West (DCMW) is situated adjacent to the town of Kriel.
The coal operations at this site have a rich history, dating back to 1997.
Dorstfontein East Underground Mine
Dorstfontein Coal Mine East (DCME) OC is situated 36 km south of the town of Emalahleni.
The mine is 10 km northeast of the town of Kriel.
Rietkuil Vhakoni Underground Mine
Rietkuil Vhakoni (RV) is located within the DCME Complex and began coal production in April 2024.
Dorstfontein East Open Cast
